Hey guys,
So I've decided to get the ball rolling with this blog thing, facebook is not sufficient enough.
As we all know, I moved at the beginning of the month. Pretty much the hardest thing I've ever done. Luckily I had help from Colin, who is turning out to be a really good friend to me and whom I feel actually appreciates my friendship. GOOD NEWS: I'm returning home on the 3rd - 10th of October. Colin got on the guest list to the Built to Spill concert at Lee's Palace on the 6th so he will be traveling with me for a short time as well. I'm not sure what we can get organized, but we should definably hang out on the day of the show if nothing else. Also, my Father came to visit me the week beofre school started, and brought my brother as a surprize! It was pretty cool. I took him to the Carelton and to the graveyard. It was super cool and I think my brother is finally getting to the age where hanging out with his loser poor art school student sister is somewhat exceptable for a cool highschool dude like himself.
I've still continued working pretty full time hours at the Press Gang, which is starting to really interfere with my school work and studies. Hopefully that will sort itself out soon, it been quite dramatic at work lately, but that is the last thing I want to talk about since I am doomed to its confines in a few short hours anyways.
Perhaps once the apartment is all put together and complete, I will post a video of it. It's definitely coming along and it's a place where I feel at home for now.
Mary has started to warm up to me again, not really sure what went on with that, but she seems more open to the idea that I have other friends and a busy schedule. Maddy, my roommate, is good, we get along fine and so far everything is going smoothly. It's very strange living with another person. Having to accommodate for more than yourself is difficult in the sense that each person has different needs, habits, and ways of going about things, for which personal adjustments must be made in order for mutual happiness to be even met. At least I think.
Anyways, I like my classes (Figure Drawing, Intro Semiotics, Canadian Art to 1950s, and Photography:Beyond the Frame). A lot of reading, which I'm very bad for keeping on top of, even though I find it interesting. I'm curios of the course my Photo class will take, it's fairly open, but I'm hoping some of the ideas I've accumulated will fit in with the assignments.
All of that put together, I'm doing pretty well. Generally happy, and for good reasons. I'm very excited to come home and visit. As some of you may or may not know, in February, my Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, for which we have gone through chemo for throughout the summer. My Mother had her first surgery on the 27th of August to remove the lumps and lymph nodes. Unfortunately, the surgery wasn't good enough and didn't remove all of the bad cells. She had her second surgery to remove her whole left breast just over a week ago. She is doing well and feels much better about it this time and soon we will find out what comes next, aside from radiation. This is obviously the purpose for my trip home mid school year, and conveniently just happens to cover a couple of Thanksgiving dinners, haha.
UMMM... I can't think of anything else. Except for the fact that there could potentially be a new boy, but I'm not sure. His name is Chris and he works a couple restuarants down from mine. He also lives on my street haha. Weird. I'll keep you posted.
I was also thinking we could started posting picutres of what we are doing in school as far as art projects is concerned.
Anyways, I'm done. I have to go read about Aboriginal Art in the National Art Gallery.
Love you guys for always,
Kristen <3
